Fitness through All Seasons of Life - Interview with Brittinie Wick
Mar 06, 2024
In this episode, I am interviewing fitness expert and Air Force veteran, Brittinie Wick. Brittinie shares her insights on maintaining fitness and health across different life stages, particularly for women in the military community.
Adapting Fitness to Life's Seasons
Brittinie emphasizes the importance of adapting fitness routines as life changes. This includes during pregnancy, postpartum, or during busy or challenging times.
Starting Small
An all-or-nothing approach to fitness is guaranteed to leave you feeling discouraged, disappointed, and frustrated. Start with small habits and gradually build up. Something is always better than nothing, even if that something may not deliver huge results. The “something” is you casting a vote for who you want to be, and being the type of person that shows up.
Incorporating Fitness into Daily Life
Brittinie shares creative ways to incorporate fitness into everyday activities. This could be doing squats during office breaks, going for a quick walk, or even doing short Peloton workouts.
Finding Enjoyable Activities
It’s so important to find activities you enjoy for your fitness routine. Whether it's spin, walking, hiking, or joining a community like a Burn Boot Camp (Christina’s current obsession), it's important to do something that gets your body moving and that you enjoy.
Focusing on How Fitness Makes You Feel
Brittinie encourages listeners to shift their mindset from focusing on how fitness makes them look to how it makes them feel. Exercise can help manage stress and anxiety, and improve overall wellbeing.
