Energy Management Pt. 1

Mar 26, 2025

If you’ve ever felt like you're running on empty even when your calendar looks “manageable” this one’s for you.

This week on Leading with Heart, I kicked off a brand-new four-part mini-series all about Energy Management. I’m so excited to dig into this topic with you because it has completely changed the way I think about stress, burnout, and capacity. Especially for those of us in the military or high-demand careers, this shift is a game-changer.

Why Energy Management Matters

Let’s be honest, military life is a lot.

From PCS moves, changing healthcare systems, deployments, shifting schedules, and being far from your family and support systems… the pressure builds quickly. And even if you’re not in uniform, that chronic “go, go, go” lifestyle can leave you feeling exhausted, discouraged, and totally disconnected.

That’s where energy management comes in.

Rather than focusing on productivity and hustle, I want to help you start thinking about how you protect your energy. Because the truth is: we don’t have unlimited energy. And trying to operate at 100% all the time isn’t just unrealistic, it's unsustainable.

A Moment That Inspired Me

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of spending the day with the 823rd RED HORSE Squadron down at Hurlburt Field in Florida. (Shoutout to them if they’re listening!) We spent the day diving into leadership, stress, and mental performance and that experience reminded me just how important this work is.

So many high-performing people are walking around burned out and disconnected. We’re not talking enough about how to feel better while still being mission-focused, career-driven, and goal-oriented.

In this first episode of the series, I lay the foundation of what energy management is and why it matters. I explain how your energy flows throughout the day and why operating at peak energy all the time isn't the goal, it's about being intentional with your energy, knowing when to push and when to pause.

Listen into the episode, and let’s start building a life where you feel more energized, more grounded, and more you.
